Removing and Replacing a Milgard Sliding Glass Door Screen
In this step by step video you’re shown how to properly remove your Milgard Sliding Glass Door Screen. Then you’re shown instructions for how to re-install the screen on a sliding glass door. You should have a basic understanding of simple hand tools to undertake this project. Remember to wear eye protection and keep pets and small children out of the area when performing this process.
The tools needed for this project include:
- Phillips screwdriver
- Putty knife
- Safety glasses
- Gloves
To remove the sliding door screen, you’ll need to take the screen off the rollers. Find the screws at the bottom of either side of the screen. Using a phillips screwdriver, turn the screw clockwise to raise the slider screen up and turn it counter-clockwise to bring it down. The door screen will start to drop, continue until you see the head of the screw. Repeat this procedure on the other side of the sliding door screen. The wheel will now be in the upright position. Next, raise the screen and locate the wheels, the wheels are located at either end of the door screen. Place the putty knife under the wheel, push in, and lift. Once the wheel is up, gently slide the screen towards you. Perform the same action on the other side. To re-install the sliding door screen, line up the top two wheels back inside the track, and push up the screen as high as it will go. Hold the screen out slightly from the bottom. Line up the putty knife with the wheel, push up on the wheel with the putty knife, and slide the door screen back into the track. Perform the same action on the other side of the door. Before you operate the sliding glass door screen, it must be adjusted. Again using the phillips screwdriver, turn the screws at the bottom side of the screen clockwise until you see the screen rise. Repeat the same procedure on the other side. Check to make sure the sliding door screen operates smoothly.
