Goodbye Drafty Shower Curtain
An old shower curtain can make your bathroom look dated, but the reasons to replace your shower curtain with a shower door go beyond just the decorative appearance. While glass shower doors contribute greatly to the overall look of your bathroom, they will also affect function and comfort.
Shower Curtains
While the initial purchase of a shower curtain is fairly inexpensive, replacing them year after year can add up. Shower curtains are not easy to keep clean, over time they build up mold and mildew and need to be replaced. There are cheap PVC vinyl shower curtains available, but studies have shown that these types of curtains can contain chemicals that can be harmful to your health. New PVC vinyl curtains may release toxins into the air that can cause headaches, nausea, respiratory issues, and damage to the liver, kidneys, and central nervous system. It’s important to check the label before you purchase a shower curtain to avoid PVC.
Unlike shower curtains, glass shower doors can be kept looking new for years, especially with the addition of protective glass coating making the glass even easier to clean. Water spot protective coating makes it so any of the hard water and/or soap scum that is deposited on the surface of the glass cannot be absorbed into the glass and you can simply rinse it off with clean water and wipe off with a clean microfiber cloth. Using a squeegee on your doors daily will also greatly reduce the need for any scrubbing. If your glass doors do become soiled from hard water or scale build-up, a bath sponge with warm soapy water can be used for cleaning.
In addition to being difficult to keep clean, shower curtains don’t always function well. There are a number of ways that water can drip from the shower curtain onto your floor even if you’re careful. This can eventually lead to water damage in your bathroom. Furthermore, gusts of air make your shower curtain to blow into your legs as you shower, a frustrating problem caused by a difference in air pressure. Not only do you have to wrestle with the curtain that is now stuck to your legs, but your feet are also now cold because of the cold draft of air that has blown into the shower settled at the bottom of the tub. Burr. In contrast, a glass door on a shower will trap all the warm air and water inside.
Drafty shower curtains can also be easy to damage. It’s common for shower curtains to become tattered along the bottom edge, or to be torn from the rings that hold the curtain on the curtain rod. Frameless glass shower doors are very sturdy. They are made from 3/8” tempered glass material that is designed to be as durable as it is beautiful.
Glass Shower Doors
Glass shower doors let more light into your shower that a shower curtain. Not only does more light in the shower create a brighter look it also makes it easier to find the soap and shampoo when you are showering. When more light flows through the space unimpeded, glass shower doors can create the illusion of a larger space.
Another advantage of using a frameless glass shower door is its elegant appearance. It’s difficult to describe the beauty of these devices without seeing them in person. Frameless glass shower doors create a level of sophistication that is simply not found in traditional framed doors or shower curtains. Because these frameless glass shower doors are so sleekly unobtrusive, they look great no matter how your bathroom is decorated.
Don’t settle for an outdated, blah, or boring bathroom. Ditch that old drafty shower! Replace it, with a beautiful and functional glass shower door.
